We are thrilled to announce the completion of our Fall 2025 student projects! These brought together students from 6 universities to solve real-world challenges using IoT, Robotics, and AI.
Each project was a feat of international teamwork, featuring 3 members per university and co-supervision from our partner institutions. Here is a look at the results:
🖐️ Radar-Based Gesture Detection (UNICAUCA + UP): Detecting hand motions through Doppler signatures and machine learning based methods.
🦾 Bionic Arm (MDU + UTP + UDEA): A 3-way collaboration creating a 3D-printed prosthetic controlled via myoelectric (EMG) signals and computer vision.
🤖 Virtual Greeter (UNICAUCA + UTP): A Godot-powered 3D digital twin interface for smart rooms featuring voice recognition and real-time interaction.
🍎 ExpiryPal Next (UDEA + UP): A smart fridge system using IoT and image processing to reduce food waste in multi-family households.
🏃 Sync Activity (UDEA + UNIMED): A mobile platform for real-time synchronized fitness tracking.
🛰️ Remote Health Monitoring (UNIMED + UTP): Non-contact vital sign tracking using FMCW radar to monitor heartbeats and respiration.
